FÁTIMA, BATALHA, ALCOBAÇA, NAZARÉ AND ÓBIDOS

After meeting your guide at your hotel in Lisbon, board an air-conditioned minivan bound for Fátima – home to a world-renowned pilgrimage site that attracts over four million Christians every year. During the journey, your guide will provide insight into Fátima’s history and explain why the religious site is so prominent.
During your free time, choose to visit the statue of Our Lady – a shrine marking where the Virgin Mary appeared – and admire the beautiful Basilica of Fátima. Then, continue to the villages of Batalha and Alcobaça to see their UNESCO-listed monasteries.

In Nazaré – a charming fishing village – you can enjoy scenes of coastal splendor before immersing yourself in the medieval history of Óbidos. Here, you will savor a typical Portuguese liqueur called ginjinha (made with cherries and sugar).

After a full day of exploration, return to your hotel in Lisbon and say goodbye to your private guide.

Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima
Visit to Fatima – one of the most important pilgrimage centers in the world and where the Miracle of the Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima took place. You will have free time to visit the sanctuaries. The Chapel of the Apparitions marks the place where the Virgin Mary appeared in 1917 to the three shepherd children to convey a message of peace. The children were instructed by the Blessed Virgin Mary that she would perform a miracle so that people would believe in them, and on October 13th, a crowd of over 70,000 people came to see the “Miracle of the Sun,” signifying the presence of God among the people. Fatima is one of the most important Catholic sanctuaries in the world. While there, we will also pass by the religious articles factory where you can buy your rosary and other religious items to be blessed at the sanctuary.

Battle Monastery
Visit the Batalha Monastery, considered one of the seven wonders of Portugal. This small town was the stage for great historical moments of great importance to our country, and the largest remaining vestige is the Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is the largest Portuguese Gothic monument and also the birthplace of the Manueline style.

Nazareth
Visit the beautiful fishing village of Nazaré with its peculiar 12th-century sanctuary, where star surfer McNamara broke world records on our famous giant waves. The best place to go here is to the top of the cliff called Sítio da Nazaré, the first place in Portugal where Our Lady was worshipped.

Obidos Village
Last but not least, you’ll find Óbidos, a charming medieval village where you can taste the original “Ginjinha” liqueur. This village, which once belonged to the Queens of Portugal, is still surrounded by the walls of its castle. These walls can be crossed from the upper banks, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and a stroll through its characteristic streets.
